Transforming my Life through Fitness: Overcoming Anorexia Nervosa and Building Confidence

From Anorexia Nervosa to Athletic: Rachel Nickson Shares Her Inspirational Fitness Journey! 

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel Nickson, and today I want to share with you my personal fitness journey. Like many people, I struggled with my weight and body image, which led to me developing anorexia nervosa. However, through the power of nutrition and fitness, I was able to regain control over my life, build my confidence and self-worth, and completely transform my physical and mental health.

Transforming from a Body in Failure to an Athletic Body

The biggest obstacle I faced during my journey was overcoming my anorexia. As an all-or-nothing person, I had to learn to switch my focus from extreme dieting and self-harm to the positives of the fitness and nutrition industry. It was a challenging journey, but with perseverance, I was able to go from a body that was going into failure to a healthy and athletic body that I continue to build and work on every single day.

Through my fitness journey, I have gained a tremendous amount of experience and knowledge, which I am now using to help others. My family was my support network, but ultimately, I understood that ultimately I am my main motivator. If I do not do it for myself, no one will do it for me.

Just Make a Start

I truly believe that anyone can start their own fitness journey, and my advice would be to just take that first step. It may seem daunting at first, but the fitness lifestyle is a journey, not an instant change. Stick with it, learn to love the process and love yourself. It will build you as a person both physically and mentally, giving you focus and drive in all areas of your life!

The Comeback is Always Greater than the Setback

Like many, I experienced setbacks and failures during my journey. At first, it was hard to stay motivated when I wasn't seeing immediate results. My body was not changing as quickly as I would have liked and this was very disheartening. But, I learned that perseverance is key, and I kept pushing forward. I focused on the instant feeling of accomplishment I felt over the physical changes and this kept me going until I began to see positive changes to my body.

Aesthetically speaking, my body has experienced a huge change, transforming into an athletic shape that I am incredibly proud of. My mental health has also dramatically improved having overcome anorexia and anxiety. I feel more confident and the routine of working out regularly gives me that positive control and motivation that carries over into all aspects of my life.

The most important lesson I've learned during my journey is that setbacks are normal, and resetting yourself and continuing again is what matters. Rest and recovery are just as important as exercise, and education is key.

The Secret To Achieving Your Workout Goals

Looking towards the future, I plan to continue educating myself and building my knowledge in the nutrition and fitness industry. I want to continue to work on my physique and help support and motivate others on their journeys. I want to encourage anyone who is just starting their own fitness or life journey to keep going, no matter what obstacles you may face. Perseverance, education, and self-care are key to achieving your goals and transforming your physical and mental health.
